Overview
The Saturn 4 Ultra is Elegoo's 10 in 12K MSLA resin printer, with an 11520 x 5120 mono LCD, 19 x 24 µm XY resolution and a 218.88 x 122.88 x 220 mm build volume. Elegoo lists tilt release, hands-free auto leveling, an AI camera and up to 150 mm/h. A 16K version is now sold alongside it.
What it is
The Elegoo Saturn 4 Ultra is a mid-size MSLA resin printer built around a 10 in 12K monochrome LCD. It sits above the compact Mars series in Elegoo's lineup and is aimed at users who want large build plates and fine detail together. It remains listed and in stock on Elegoo's US store. Elegoo now also sells a Saturn 4 Ultra 16K, which uses the same 10 in format with a higher-resolution screen.
Key specs that matter
- LCD: 10 in 12K monochrome panel at 11520 x 5120 pixels.
- XY resolution: 19 x 24 µm. The pixels are not square, so detail is slightly finer along one axis than the other.
- Build volume: 218.88 x 122.88 x 220 mm, according to Elegoo. That is large enough for full plates of miniatures or tall display figures.
- Speed: up to 150 mm/h, with about 5.5 s per layer under general settings. Elegoo says this is twice as fast as the Saturn 3 Ultra.
- Layer release: tilt release. The vat tilts to peel each layer from the release film, which shortens the time between layers.
- Light source: COB light with a Fresnel collimating lens at 405 nm, using 144 LEDs.
- Leveling: Elegoo lists hands-free automatic leveling.
- Camera: AI camera for intelligent detection, real-time monitoring and time-lapse.
Who it suits
The Saturn 4 Ultra fits hobbyists and small studios who print batches of miniatures, larger figures, cosplay details or product prototypes in resin. Its plate area is several times larger than a 7 in Mars printer, so one run covers far more parts. Tom's Hardware gave it an Editor's Choice award and praised its detail, auto leveling and tilting vat.
What to know before buying
Price is the main question in late 2026. Elegoo's US store lists the 12K model at $593.99, while the Saturn 4 Ultra 16K is $649.99. With only about $56 between them, buyers should compare the 16K's specs on Elegoo's page before choosing the older 12K screen.
Tom's Hardware raised several practical points. The camera's empty-plate detection only works above about 50 mm, and time-lapses are not possible below that height. Its warp detection missed a visibly peeling print, and the camera required enabling Chitu Manager, a step the directions did not explain. The reviewer also found the build plate top not sloped enough to drain resin well, and the lid has no handle. At review time, the printer was not yet supported in Lychee Slicer.
Like any resin printer, it needs gloves, ventilation, alcohol washing and UV curing. A 10 in printer also uses more resin per vat fill, so running costs are higher than on a compact model. Elegoo's US store also sells Saturn 4 Ultra bundles with Mercury wash and cure stations, and when checked some of them (from $488) cost less than the standalone printer, so compare bundle prices before buying.

Pros and cons
Pros
- The 10 in 12K mono LCD at 11520 x 5120 gives 19 x 24 µm XY detail across a large build plate.
- Its 218.88 x 122.88 x 220 mm build volume fits full plates of miniatures or tall figures in a single run.
- Tilt release peels layers from the film quickly, and Elegoo rates the printer at up to 150 mm/h.
- Elegoo lists hands-free automatic leveling, so the printer is ready to print without manual plate adjustment.
- A built-in AI camera supports real-time monitoring and time-lapse capture without buying extra hardware.
- Tom's Hardware gave it an Editor's Choice award, citing print detail, auto leveling and the hinged hood.
Cons
- At $593.99 on Elegoo's US store, it costs only about $56 less than the newer Saturn 4 Ultra 16K.
- Tom's Hardware found the camera only detects an empty plate above about 50 mm and missed a peeling print.
- Camera features require enabling Chitu Manager, which Tom's Hardware says the included directions did not explain.
- Tom's Hardware notes the build plate top is not sloped enough to drain resin and the lid has no handle.
- Its non-square 19 x 24 µm pixels mean detail is slightly coarser along one axis than the other.
- A 10 in vat uses more resin per fill, which raises running costs compared with compact Mars printers.
Frequently asked questions
What is the build volume of the Saturn 4 Ultra?
Elegoo lists the build volume as 218.88 x 122.88 x 220 mm. That is enough for a full plate of tabletop miniatures or tall single figures.
