Overview

The QIDI Q2 is an enclosed CoreXY printer with a 270 x 270 x 256 mm build volume, a 370°C nozzle, a 120°C bed and active chamber heating to 65°C. It replaces the Q1 Pro with a larger build volume, load cell leveling, HEPA filtration and QIDI Box multicolor support.

What it is

The QIDI Q2 is an enclosed CoreXY FDM printer with active chamber heating, a 270 x 270 x 256 mm build volume and a 370°C nozzle. QIDI names it as the direct replacement for the QIDI Q1 Pro, which QIDI has discontinued. This page covers the base Q2. QIDI also sells the Q2 Combo, which adds the QIDI Box multicolor unit.

What changed versus the Q1 Pro

Speed and acceleration are unchanged at 600 mm/s and 20,000 mm/s², and the bed still reaches 120°C. The rest moves up:

  • Build volume: 270 x 270 x 256 mm, up from 245 x 245 x 240 mm.
  • Nozzle: 370°C with a bimetal nozzle, up from 350°C.
  • Chamber: second-generation PTC chamber heating to 65°C, up from 60°C.
  • Leveling: a load cell sensor in the hotend handles automatic leveling.
  • Filtration: a 3-in-1 system with a G3 pre-filter, H12 HEPA filter and coconut shell activated carbon.
  • Multicolor: the Q2 works with the QIDI Box. The Q1 Pro had no official multicolor unit.
  • Connectivity: Ethernet joins 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi and USB, plus 32 GB of onboard storage.

The touchscreen stays at 4.3 inches.

Key specs that matter

  • Materials: QIDI lists PLA, ABS, ASA, PETG, TPU, PA, PC and carbon or glass fiber reinforced filaments.
  • Extruder: direct drive with hardened steel gears. A 0.4 mm nozzle is standard, with 0.2, 0.6 and 0.8 mm options.
  • Bed: dual-sided textured PEI plate on an aluminum heated bed.
  • Camera: up to 1080p with timelapse and AI spaghetti detection.
  • Software: QIDI Studio is recommended, and OrcaSlicer and PrusaSlicer are supported. QIDI's FAQ says the firmware is Klipper based.
  • Size: 402 x 438 x 494 mm and 18.1 kg net.

Who it suits

The Q2 fits buyers who want to print engineering materials such as ABS, ASA, PA and PC on a desktop-sized machine. Tom's Hardware's verdict was that it performs very well on high-temperature filaments, and the review reports success with PPS, several PA grades and PC. It also suits people who already use Klipper or OrcaSlicer.

What to know before buying

  • Price: at the time of writing (October 2026), QIDI's US store lists the Q2 at $499 and the Q2 Combo at $649.
  • QIDI Box: Tom's Hardware reported repeated feeding failures with the Box on its Q2 Combo (QIDI said the review unit was an early model) and advised against relying on the Box for now. Single-color buyers avoid this by choosing the base printer.
  • Noise: Tom's Hardware found the machine loud, and not only from its fans: Box loading and the filament cutter add clatter.
  • Screen: the same review found that the touchscreen interferes with the door.
  • Wi-Fi: QIDI's spec table lists 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, while its FAQ mentions 5 GHz. Plan around 2.4 GHz.
  • Warranty: QIDI lists a 1-year warranty and a 14-day no-reason return.

Compared with the Bambu Lab P1S, the Q2 adds active chamber heating and a 370°C nozzle, where the P1S has a passive enclosure and a 300°C nozzle. Compared with the Creality K1C, it has a larger build volume and a heated chamber. See also QIDI Q1 Pro vs Creality K1C and the best enclosed printers.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Active PTC chamber heating to 65°C helps ABS, ASA, PA and PC prints resist warping and layer splitting.
  • A 370°C bimetal nozzle and 120°C bed cover engineering filaments and carbon or glass fiber reinforced materials.
  • Load cell auto-leveling in the hotend removes manual bed leveling, and Tom's Hardware reported excellent first layers.
  • A 3-in-1 filter with G3 pre-filter, H12 HEPA and activated carbon handles fumes from ABS and similar materials.
  • The 270 x 270 x 256 mm build volume is larger than the 245 x 245 x 240 mm of the Q1 Pro.
  • QIDI supports QIDI Studio, OrcaSlicer and PrusaSlicer, and the firmware is Klipper based.

Cons

  • Tom's Hardware reported repeated feeding failures with the QIDI Box on the Q2 Combo and advised skipping it for now.
  • Tom's Hardware described the printer as quite loud, and not only because of fan noise.
  • Tom's Hardware found that the touchscreen interferes with the door when opening it.
  • The 4.3-inch touchscreen is unchanged from the Q1 Pro and small compared with 5-inch screens on rivals.
  • QIDI's spec table lists only 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, which can be awkward on networks that broadcast only 5 GHz.
  • At 18.1 kg net weight it is a heavy desktop printer that needs a sturdy surface.

Frequently asked questions

Is the QIDI Q2 the replacement for the Q1 Pro?

Yes. QIDI's Q1 Pro page says that model is discontinued and names the Q2 as its direct replacement. The Q2 keeps 600 mm/s and 20,000 mm/s² while adding a larger build volume, a 370°C nozzle and 65°C chamber heating.

Can the QIDI Q2 print ABS, PA and PC?

Yes. QIDI lists ABS, ASA, PA, PC and fiber reinforced filaments, supported by a 370°C nozzle, a 120°C bed and active chamber heating to 65°C. Tom's Hardware noted strong results on high-temperature filaments.

Should I buy the Q2 or the Q2 Combo?

The Combo adds the QIDI Box for multicolor printing for $649 versus $499. Tom's Hardware reported repeated feeding problems with the Box on its review unit, so buyers who mainly print single color may prefer the base printer.

Does the QIDI Q2 work with OrcaSlicer?

Yes. QIDI recommends QIDI Studio and also lists OrcaSlicer and PrusaSlicer as supported. QIDI's FAQ says the printer runs Klipper based firmware.

Does the QIDI Q2 have a camera?

Yes. QIDI lists a camera of up to 1080p with timelapse support and AI spaghetti detection.

Verdict

Buy the base Q2 if you want an enclosed printer with real chamber heating and a 370°C nozzle for engineering materials at a mid-range price. Look elsewhere if you mainly want reliable multicolor printing or a quiet machine for a shared room.
